The most popular question we receive is what do you need to have while trekking the Andes. Here is a suggested list of items to not forget with you.

Alpaca provides foam matts and pillows for all trekkers that camp in the Andes. Air matts for extra cushion is available to rent. Water is provided on the treks, but you need to provide water for your very first morning – we won’t have a chance to boil and purify water until lunch that first day, so bring enough water for a few hours that first day.

• Sleeping Bag (can be rented from Alpaca)
• Hiking socks
• Headlamp
• Camera (perhaps an extra camera or camera card so you can take lots of pictures)
• Rain Jacket

• Layers – a few shirts, pants
• Warm jacket

• Toiletries: toilet paper, toothbrush, wipes, hand sanitizer
